Marie France Forcier
Artistic Director/ Choreographer
The Artistic Director of Forcier Stage Works, Marie France Forcier is a choreographer, performer and pedagogue. First introduced to dance at a young age, she earned Dance and Sociology DECs in her native Montréal before moving to Toronto, where she completed her conservatory training at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and her Master of Fine Arts in Choreography Dance at York University. She currently acts as Assistant Professor in the School of Creative and Performing Arts, at the University of Calgary.
Over the past 15 years, her body of choreographic work has been commissioned by dance festivals, companies, presenters, professional training schools, and film-makers, and has been seen across Canada, in the USA, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, China and India.
As a physical performer, she has worked in various settings and toured extensively on four continents, in disciplines ranging from performance art to aerial circus, to family theatricals to contemporary dance. Her research on the Post-Traumatic Lens in Choreographic Practice and Aesthetics was recently published by Inter-Disciplinary Press.
